Terms & Ordering
Last updated: 18 September 2026
This page explains how ordering from Binge Bakes works: what things cost, how far ahead to order, how to pay, and what happens if plans change. It forms the terms of our agreement with you, so it is worth a read before you order. We have tried to keep it in plain English rather than legal language.
Who we are
Binge Bakes is a small home bakery run by Anna Binge, trading as Binge Bakes from East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19. We are registered as a food business with Mid Sussex District Council.
- Email: anna.binge@outlook.com
- WhatsApp and phone: 07403 345593
Because we bake from home, we do not publish the full street address. You will be given it, along with your collection time, once your order is confirmed.
What we sell
We sell two different things, and they work differently.
- Shop Treats are our everyday bakes at a fixed price: cupcake boxes, brownies, cookies, macarons and sponge boxes. You order these through the basket on this site.
- Celebration and bespoke cakes are designed individually for you. These are never priced through the basket. You send an enquiry, we talk it through, and we quote you.
Prices
The price shown against each Shop Treat is the total price for that item. Delivery, if you choose it, is charged separately and is set out under Local delivery below.
Bespoke cakes are quoted individually, because the price depends on size, design and how long the decoration takes. Any “from” price on this site is the lowest a cake of that type might cost, not a quote. Your quote is the price we confirm to you in writing.
We may change our prices from time to time, but never after we have confirmed your order. The price we confirm is the price you pay.
How an order is made
For Shop Treats: you add items to your basket, enter your details, choose a collection date and time and a payment method, and place the order. That sends us your request; it is not yet a contract. We then email you a confirmation. The contract between us is formed when we send that confirmation, not when you click the button. If we cannot make your order, for example because the date is full, we will tell you and nothing is owed.
For bespoke cakes: your enquiry starts a conversation, not a sale. No payment is taken at that point. The contract is formed when you accept our written quote and pay the deposit.
Please check your confirmation when it arrives. If anything on it is wrong, tell us straight away and we will correct it.
How much notice we need
- Cupcakes and other Shop Treats: at least 3 days.
- Celebration and bespoke cakes: at least 2 weeks.
These are minimums, and busy periods go sooner, so earlier is always better. If you are in a hurry, ask anyway, and we will say yes if we can.
Paying
We take cash on collection or bank transfer. Our bank details are in your confirmation email; please use your name as the reference. We do not currently take card payments.
Deposits. We take a 50% deposit to secure your date on:
- every celebration or bespoke cake; and
- any cupcake order of more than 12.
The balance is due on collection. Everything else is paid in full on collection, with nothing upfront.
Changing or cancelling your order
Your deposit is refundable up to 4 days before your collection date. After that it is non-refundable. The reason is simple and we would rather just say it: four days out is when Anna does the shopping for your order, so from that point the ingredients have been bought and paid for.
If you need to change a date or a detail, ask as early as you can and we will do our best. Changes close to the date may not be possible, and a significant change may need a fresh quote.
If we ever have to cancel, whether through illness or an oven that picks its moment, we will tell you as soon as we know and refund everything you have paid us, including any deposit.
Your right to cancel
Normally, buying online gives you 14 days to change your mind. That right does not apply here, and the law says we have to tell you so clearly before you order.
Under regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, there is no 14-day cancellation right for goods that are made to your specification or clearly personalised, or for goods that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly. Fresh bakes are both. So you will not benefit from a right to cancel once your order is confirmed. What you have instead is the deposit arrangement described above.
None of this affects your rights if something is actually wrong with your order. See If something is wrong.
Collection
Collection from East Grinstead is how most orders are fulfilled, and it is free. You choose a morning (9am–12pm) or afternoon (12–5pm) slot at checkout, and we confirm a time and send you the address.
Please collect on the day you booked. Fresh bakes are at their best the day they are made, and we do not have the fridge space to hold orders. If you cannot make your slot, message us and we will always try to sort something out.
Local delivery
- Where: within 3 miles of East Grinstead, as far as Crawley Down.
- Cost: £2.50, or free on orders of £50 or more.
- What we deliver: cupcakes and other Shop Treats only.
- What we do not deliver: celebration and bespoke cakes are collection only. Tiered and decorated cakes do not travel well, and we would rather hand yours over perfect than risk it in a footwell.
Delivery is not yet a checkout option, so please ask for it in your order notes or when you enquire, and we will confirm the time and the total including the delivery charge before you commit.
Allergens and dietary requirements
Everything is baked in a home kitchen that handles nuts, gluten, dairy and eggs. We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment, and we cannot guarantee that a bake made with gluten-free flour is entirely free from traces of gluten. If you are coeliac or have a severe allergy, please tell us before you order so we can talk it through honestly rather than guess.
Our kitchen is registered as a food business with Mid Sussex District Council and was awarded a food hygiene rating of 5 (Very Good), the highest score, on 11 September 2026.
A full ingredient and allergen list is provided with every order. If you would like it before you order, just ask and we will send it.
Our brownies can be made with xylitol instead of sugar. Please note that xylitol is harmful to dogs, so keep those ones well out of reach.
Looking after your bakes
Our bakes contain no preservatives, so they are best eaten within 2–3 days. Keep them cool and out of direct sunlight, in the box they came in. Anything with cream-cheese frosting or fresh cream should be refrigerated and brought back to room temperature for about an hour before serving, as buttercream tastes much better warm than fridge-cold. Once your order has been collected or delivered, how it is stored is in your hands.
If something is wrong
We are under a legal duty to supply goods that conform with this contract, which means of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If your order is not right, please tell us as soon as you can, ideally the same day and with a photo, and email anna.binge@outlook.com or message us on WhatsApp.
We will reply within 2 working days. Depending on what has gone wrong we will put it right, remake it, or refund you in full or in part. Binge Bakes is one person who cares a great deal about this, so please do come to us first. We would much rather fix it than have you disappointed.
If we cannot sort it out between us, you can get free advice from Citizens Advice consumer service on 0808 223 1133 or at citizensadvice.org.uk.
Photos
We sometimes photograph our bakes for the website and Instagram. This is only ever of the cake, never of you or your event, and never with any personal details. If you would rather we did not photograph yours, just say so. No explanation needed.
General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer. We may update these terms from time to time; the terms that apply to your order are the ones published when we confirmed it, and the “last updated” date above shows when we last changed anything.
How we handle your personal details is set out in our privacy policy.
